Vegan
All of our products are 100% Vegan, with the exception of our multiBALM. When we were developing the formula for the Multibalm we did indeed consider using synthetic beeswax in place of true beeswax and researched several. However, as we are a petrochemical free company, we agreed that this would not be a suitable ingredient for MV because the brand was created as a direct result of treating someone with a petrochemical reaction - and synthetic beeswax is manufactured in a lab from petroleum mineral oil and alcohol-based substances.
Cetearyl alcohol
Cetearyl alcohol is a naturally derived plant fatty alcohol which isn’t drying to the skin.
It is a safe, non-harmful & non-toxic ingredient and is given an excellent safety rating by the US-based Environmental Working Group. MV uses the highest grade of ingredients throughout all of our products.
Preservatives
Potassium Sorbate is a preservative commonly used in both the food and cosmetics industry. It is used to prevent mould growth but is not considered effective against bacteria which is why, in cream formulations particularly, it is accompanied by an additional preservative. In MV formulations, Potassium Sorbate is added at 0.5% or less and those with a highly reactive skin should always patch test first.
Are there Sulphates in the multBALM
We have delved deeper into our multiBALM formula to look for the presence of sulphites and contacted our suppliers of coconut oil and sea buckthorn. Our suppliers have responded and said that there are no sulphites present in either of those ingredients
Palm Oil
Our cream based products contain natural alcohols which are derived from natural vegetable oils. The vegetable oil used varies depending on the season and availability. Sometimes coconut oil is used, and sometimes palm oil is used. Unfortunately this is out of MV's control, as we do not produce the natural alcohols.
We do require our suppliers of natural alcohols to provide us with legitimate documentation guaranteeing that when palm oil is used as the natural vegetable oil, it is always RSPO Certified.
RSPO certification is an assurance to the customer that the standard of palm oil production is sustainable. All organisations in the supply chain that use RSPO certified sustainable oil products are audited to prevent overselling and mixing palm oil with conventional (or non-sustainable) oil palm products.
Titanium Dioxide
We do not use titanium dioxide in any of our products
Retinol
None of the MV products contain Retinol. Saying that, we like to think of retinol use as a completely personal preference. Sharon advises that, if you chose to use retinol that you ensure you do enough research on retinol safety before you add it to your routine. Incorrect use or dosage application can have seriously harsh effects, including thinning and drying out of the skin.
SPF
None of our products contain SPF
